In recent years there has been an international shift in the US government's placement of foreign refugees into the urban environments of Northeast Ohio. There is an influx of 400 to 500 new refugee families each year, placed in Cleveland alone. These people need someone to bring them the good news of Jesus Christ.

There are many ways to get involved with Refugees in the City of Cleveland. Being strategic in how you help refugees in the city is an important decision. There are opportunities in becoming English teachers, citizenship teachers, getting involved in urban gardening, fitness, sustainable development, and working at the Hope Center.

Innovative Thinking

Being a bi-vocational model, Refugee Impact Collaborative invites people to combine their passions with ministry to meet refugees spiritual and felt needs.

Alliance Licence Ministry Experience (ALME)

ALME is a requirement for all international worker candidates within the C&MA.  The reality is that most candidates are fulfilling their ALME requirements in suburban, white, middle-class churches which pose a very different environment than the urban, poor, ethnic groups that many of our international workers will be serving overseas. Cleveland provides a place for our candidates to receive a more holistic preparatory  experience for cross cultural work as they interact with various linguistic, cultural and religious groups daily.

The Central District's Responsibility

The Central District of the C&MA has a responsibility to reach all 7.3 million people within our geographical boundaries. We cannot forsake those that the world is bringing to our very doorstep; we are proactive in reaching these people.

The Central District of the C&MA also has a responsibility to reach the world. We believe that one of the most effective ways we can do this is by helping raise up the next generation of world changing international workers.
